The program focuses on five pillars of success: academics, employment, personal development, independent living and social engagement.
Essential Job Duties
The Personal Development Coordinator is a key member of the Elevate program at the university, responsible for counseling and advising students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This position leads the person-centered planning process for each student, ensuring their academic, personal, and professional goals are in alignment with their individual strengths, preferences, and aspirations. The coordinator will work closely with students to foster self-determination and personal growth, guiding them through the university experience and helping them achieve their personal development goals.

Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Special Education, Social Work, or a related field, , plus two years of relevant experience.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, particularly in personal development or educational settings
Other Required Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of person-centered planning, self-determination strategies, and inclusive practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and university staff to support students in achieving their personal goals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Special Education, Social Work, or a related field
- Experience in counseling or advising students with IDD in a post-secondary setting.
- Familiarity with transition planning, independent living skills, and workforce preparation.
