Essential Job Duties

This role will support the administration and financial management of sponsored research projects. It will focus on account reconciliation, faculty engagement, and the overall management of sponsored project portfolios. The ideal candidate will have experience in research administration, as well as skills in processing P-card transactions, voucher payments, and managing marketplace orders and purchase requisitions.

Key Responsibilities:

-Reconcile accounts for sponsored research projects to ensure accurate financial management and reporting.
-Meet with faculty to discuss account status, address questions, and provide support on managing their project portfolios.
-Monitor and manage sponsored project budgets, ensuring compliance with sponsor guidelines and university policies.
-Rebudgeting, subrecipient monitoring, Setting up PMRs for subcontracts, closeouts, other research administrative responsibilities
-Approve P-card statements
-Review and approve vouchers, journals, and other research transactions
-Collaborate with internal teams, including finance and procurement, to ensure smooth workflow and issue resolution.
-Provide assistance with financial reporting and audit preparation as needed.

1-5 years of research administration experience

Department Required Skills


-Financial Reconciliation: Ability to reconcile accounts, review financial statements, and ensure accuracy in financial records.
-P-Card and Procurement Systems: Proficiency in processing procurement card (P-card) transactions, purchase requisitions, and voucher payments.
-Verbal & Written Communication: Strong written skills for reporting, documenting processes, and communicating with faculty and stakeholders.
-Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reconciliation, reporting, and compliance monitoring.
-Problem-Solving: Ability to identify discrepancies or issues and resolve them promptly, ensuring smooth operations.
-Ability to interpret, apply, and explain policies and regulations of funding agencies.
-Knowledge of accounting principles and their application in regard to the management of grants.
-Use Excel to create and update spreadsheets and use of formulas to maintain accurate balances.
-PeopleSoft HR (or similar systems) for Time & Labor functions, salary re-distributions, summer salary, salary release, etc.
-Critical thinking skills
