STEM
The Department of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM Education) comprises over 24 full-time faculty members, 400 undergraduate students, and 150 graduate students. STEM Ed advances education through scholarship, leadership, and advocacy. Faculty in STEM Ed prepare professionals who have deep content knowledge, demonstrate a strong working knowledge of effective discipline-based pedagogies, and realize the potential of digital technologies to enhance learning. The department offers a Ph.D. in Learning and Teaching in STEM with concentrations in Mathematics and Statistics Education, Science Education, and Engineering and Technology Education. The department also offers an online Master of Education degree in STEM Education, with additional concentrations in Mathematics and Statistics Education, Science Education, and Engineering and Technology Education. In addition, STEM Ed offers undergraduate programs in Science Education, Mathematics Education, and Technology, Engineering and Design Education as well as an online Master of Arts in Teaching in all three content areas. Through the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, as well as two minors and a graduate certificate, the department exemplifies an innovative merging of teacher education and the learning sciences that results in new pathways for teaching, scholarship, leadership, and service.

Essential Job Duties

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Teaching Professor to join our team, focusing on undergraduate education in Technology Education. The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses, mentor students pursuing licensure, and actively engage with student organizations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of future educators and professionals in technology and engineering.

Job Duties
  • Teach in-person undergraduate courses on Technology Education licensure, methods, core technology, engineering and design education, technical graphics, and advanced technical graphics.
  • Mentor and support undergraduate students pursuing Technology Education licensure.
  • Advise undergraduate students on academic and career-related matters.
  • Collaborate with and support student organizations related to technology and engineering education.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and program improvement efforts.
  • Engage in departmental and university service as needed.

Other Responsibilities

  • Attend meetings and conferences within the field
  • Present and conduct practitioner-based research within the program area

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Doctorate in Technology Education or Engineering Education (K-12) or equivalent.

Other Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and service.
  • Experience with teacher education in an engineering/technology-related area.
  • Ability to teach in areas related to teaching methodology, technical engineering graphics communications, engineering design, and general materials and processes laboratory.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work with all students as well as to prepare future education professionals 
  • Minimum of three years teaching experience in K-12 education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6-12 CTE/Technology Education teaching license from a state
  • Ability to teach advanced areas of CAD and engineering design graphics.
  • Ability to teach licensure methods courses
