Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
Under general supervision, performs various administrative HR and Payroll duties in support of the FM organization that employs over 800 service, maintenance, skilled crafts, administrative and professional employees. The primary focus for this position is in recruitment, with additional duties in benefits administration, and the update and maintenance of FM records, reports, and organizational charts. The incumbent works on sensitive HR actions and must exercise discretion, tact, and confidentiality at all times. This position supports and works closely with the Assistant Director, Assistant HR Manager, HR Generalists, and HR Benefits Coordinator. The incumbent will assist with special projects required of the Employment, Compensation, Classification and Benefits unit.

Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

- Strong computer skills required in Word, Excel, email, calendaring, and proprietary software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration.
- Experience using Workday, UMD information systems such as eTerp2 and PHR is strongly desired.
- Previous experience working in a University and/or a facilities type environment.
- Experience in recruiting, employment related actions, and benefits administration is strongly desired.
- Knowledge of Federal and local employment laws is strongly desired.
- Spanish-language fluency (read, write and speak) strongly desired.
Additional Certifications:
Although driving a State Vehicle is not a requirement for this position, travel by foot or vehicle may be required from time to time for meetings, deliveries, etc. on and off campus. If driving a State vehicle, incumbent must possess and maintain a valid class C Driver’s license or equivalent with fewer than six points.
