Essential Functions

POSITION SUMMARY:

This posting is for a post-doctoral researcher to work in the Kummer lab in the Department of Neurology on projects related to the pathophysiology of acute brain injury, focusing mostly on cellular and molecular mechanisms and phenomenology in traumatic brain injury. Current projects are particularly geared towards understanding the role of acute brain injury in inducing long-term neurodegeneration such as Alzheimer’s disease. We are exploring synaptic alterations as a bridging mechanism between these conditions. Approaches will include animal models, quantitative immunohistological and microscopic analysis, molecular biology, advanced imaging including microscopy and MRI.  There will also be an opportunity to work with human subjects with brain injury in the lab PIs clinical practice.

General information about the Kummer lab is available on our lab website: https://neuro.wustl.edu/labs/kummer_t/ .
