ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

TES is hiring temporary Medical Center Custodians

Duration: These roles are anticipated to last roughly 5.5 - 6 months.

Compensation and Benefits: $23.00 - $23.67/hour Eligible for Mid-Level Benefits including medical plans, paid holidays, and vacation/sick leave.

Location: 100% on-site in Hillcrest Medical Center

Available work schedules: This position requires that you are available to potentially work every day of the week, including weekends and holidays. You will get your schedule one month in advance and will be scheduled for 40 hours per week. Your days off of work will vary from week-to-week.

DESCRIPTION
  • Under close supervision, the Custodian performs cleaning duties in assigned areas of the facility in both patient and non-patient areas;
  • is responsible for cleaning and safeguarding of assigned areas;
  • is responsible for assigned equipment;
  • is responsible for determining supplies needed;
  • is responsible for efficient usage of supplies; delivers clean linen and picks up soiled linen.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with disinfection, sanitation and cleaning methods required of public restrooms, surgical and/or clinical laboratories.
  • Must be willing to work with hospital patients.
  • Able to perform all cleaning/custodial functions including but not limited to mopping, pushing and pulling carts, wall washing, vent cleaning, vacuuming, etc.
  • Possess an understanding of procedures for the proper handling, storage, and disposal of infectious/biohazardous waste.
  • Possess an understanding of basic safety regulations and issues.
  • Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior custodial experience in a large, complex healthcare setting or hospitality environment.
  • Customer service training/experience.
  • Possess basic computer skills; knowledge of accessing online resources and training.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • DOJ/FBI background checks and clearances are required prior to hire.

This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $40,653 - $50,550 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $19.47 - $24.21

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
