Job Summary and Responsibilities/Duties

Basic Job Purpose/Function:
 
Assists the Outreach and Recruitment Team with the development and generation of student leads for Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) programs through various venues including face-to-face, phone, online, and on- and off-campus events. Communicates with and supports the student outreach team.   
 
Essential Duties:

  1. Assists with training and daily duties of the SOAR/Call team.
  2. Assists with college marketing/recruiting events both on- and off- campus.
  3. Facilitates general campus tours and customized college visitations for prospective students and community members.
  4. Collaborates with prospective students, faculty, program directors, and administrators on assignments related to recruitment.
  5. Assists with entering lead data in customer relations management software.

 
Additional Duties:

  1. Acts as a college representative when visiting high schools, post-secondary institutions, agencies, business and industry, and professional organizations.
  2. Distributes marketing materials and information to area high schools and other assigned locations.
  3. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum and Desired Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Associates Degree

Experience/Training:

  • Some experience in student recruitment 
  • Experience giving formal presentations to groups
  • Knowledge of current computer software packages including intermediate-level knowledge of word processing, database, presentation and email applications, and beginning-level knowledge of spreadsheet applications, preferably within the Microsoft Office Suite  
  • Current driver’s license, insurance and access to reliable automobile during work hours for transportation to off-campus sites. Must have at least three (3) years of driving history.

 
Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in event planning
  • Experience in working with diversity, inclusion, or equity initiatives
  • Bilingual skills in a language that meets community needs

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including active listening skills 
  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team
  • Ability to build relationships with students, program staff, and faculty, both at MHCC and district high schools and other community-based partners
  • Ability to follow direction, problem solve, manage multiple priorities and meet goals
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply the college’s interpretation of FERPA
  • Presentation skills
  • Organizational skills

 

Working Conditions and Important Information

Working Conditions:
Work is typically performed in a normal office environment working with a variety of people. Work environment is often noisy and crowded with students and staff. Occasional strain to the eyes while working with a computer terminal. Occasional local travel and evening hours expected.
