Benefits & Student Health Coordinator
Job Description
Responsible for the administration of the student health plan for the university. This position would be responsible for enrolling students, providing customer service to students, and processing payroll deductions related to the student health plan. This position would also aid in daytoday administration of employee benefits.
Duties:
- Monitors email inbox and responds to student health questions and serves as the customer service point of contact for the student health plan.
- Determines student eligibility and sends them to Academic Health Plans for enrollment in the student health plan.
- Sends daily/weekly file to the Bursar for domestic and international student health premiums.
- Sets up payroll deductions for covering dependents Calculates and submits non
- cash benefit tax file to payroll
- Pulls weekly student health plan claims from the vendor website and submits to Finance for payment this includes tracking all student health plan weekly claims in a spreadsheet for easy reference. Aids in tracking the student health plan self
- insured account.
- Processes and verifies large quantities of data to maintain accurate health coverage records. Conducts oneon
- one benefits counseling with Staff, Faculty, and Students.
- Completes paperwork regarding child support enforcement and answers inquiries regarding child insurance benefits.
- Conducts benefits and student health plan orientation presentations.
- Monitors and updates coverage and corrects charges for Faculty, Staff, and Students, as well as their dependents.
- Assists retirement as needed and during peak times.
- Performs various duties as assigned
Required Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent, AND:
- 12 months of Human Resources, Benefits, or related experience
Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
- Ability to conduct employee presentations
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
- Proficient computing complex payroll deductions and payroll adjustments for benefits

- Ability to engage in repetitive motions.
- Communicate effectively and listen.
- Standard Office Environment.
- Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.
- Requires contact with Staff, Faculty, Students, other departments and University officials.
