This is an Associate Faculty position in the Department of Allied Health & EMS for classes in fall semester starting October 14, 2024. at the JWCC Campuses in Quincy, Illinois. Associate Faculty positions are non-tenure track, part-time, serving in a temporary or auxiliary capacity to teach specific courses on a course-by-course basis.
John Wood Community College (JWCC) is seeking a dedicated and experienced associate faculty member to teach in the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality instruction to students, preparing them for successful careers in healthcare as Certified Nursing Assistants. This position involves teaching both classroom theory and clinical practice, ensuring that students meet the required competencies for CNA certification. Flexible theory and clinical hours available. The Certified Nursing Assistant program is taught over 8 weeks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide engaging and effective instruction in accordance with the curriculum for the CNA program.
- Teach both didactic (classroom) and clinical (hands-on) components of the program, ensuring students meet Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) standards.
- Supervise and evaluate students in clinical settings, ensuring the development of safe and competent nursing care skills.
- Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments to track and support student progress.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, academic performance, and clinical competencies.
- Ensure a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the success of diverse learners.
- Comply with all institutional policies and accreditation standards related to program delivery, safety, and student performance.
- Serve as a mentor and resource for students to support their success and retention in the program.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires an RN degree and active RN Illinois state licensure. Two years of clinical experience is preferred. Applicants must be willing to attend a Basic Nursing Assistant Training Program (BNATP) course and complete Alzheimer’s care education as required by the state upon hire.
