Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Workday Functional Lead will be responsible for serving as the official representative to this project for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. This responsibility will include decision making and road mapping as we look to implement this new system. We are seeking a dynamic, highly-skilled and experienced professional with strong leadership skills who is an independent thinker as well as an exceptional collaborator. The position will be housed in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, however, the successful candidate will also work closely with other functional unit leads, the selected implementation team and various other units and departments across campus.
Reporting to the Director of OUA, the Functional Lead for Undergraduate Admissions will coordinate with the Director and lead all aspects of the Workday Student implementationfor the Admissions Workstream. This will include evaluating admission policies, procedures and workflows as they relate to current and future use. This will also include learning and evaluating cross-functional uses of data and student information that will be utilized for process improvement and student data related use cases during the student life cycle beginning with a successful application and matriculation process to the university.
The incumbent would also be responsible for leading and collaborating in the following areas: understanding and providing context for current and future state design of Workday Student; facilitating requirement gathering from campus; managing change impact validation; driving functional decisions for their designated functional area within the project team; participating in requirement drafting sessions for other workstreams; validating data for data conversion; gathering, documenting and executing testing scenarios; and preparing and executing initial and continuous training of staff within the business unit for the new system.
The incumbent should possess knowledge of admissions at a large public university including the applicant and student life cycle. Experience with CRMs and/or other technology implementation processes is also desired. The lead will be responsible for decision making regarding the design and testing of the system and leading the change management process within the business unit. The lead will also be responsible for shaping policy and business practices that will guide the functionality of the most critical aspects of the system as it relates to student information data and its use across units on campus.
This position will serve on the Workday Student Implementation Team but will be a permanent position that will remain in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. As part of a larger cross-unit implementation team, the Functional Lead will collaborate with Elevate team members and other Functional Leads to meet all deadlines and deliverables established for the successful implementation of Workday Student. The incumbent will be responsible for assuring that the needs of the business unit are represented accurately and executed appropriately in all phases of the project.
The incumbent will be dedicated solely to the successful completion, implementation and maintenance of Workday Student focusing on all aspects that pertain to Undergraduate Admissions. Following the Workday Student implementation, the incumbent will continue to serve in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and provide support to staff and department users, evaluate upgrades, operationalize changes, support configurations, lead continuous process improvements, collaborate with IT, and provide guidance as the Workday Student expert.

- Knowledge of current UMD Undergraduate Admission processes, policies, and procedures as it relates to the Student Information System, and other student service delivery platforms.
- Knowledge of the typical student life cycle is preferred.

Additional Information:
Target Hiring range $120,000 – $150,000.
