Position Overview:
We are looking for three full-time Mathematics Faculty Members who will excel in delivering engaging and effective mathematics instruction for transitional support courses, gateway courses, and upper-level math courses. The successful candidates will be able to teach courses such as statistics, mathematics for teachers, college algebra, precalculus, calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, and discrete structures. Courses are taught through various teaching modalities, including face-to-face, virtual, online, and hybrid, and may be taught during the day or evening. Class sessions will be a mixture of traditional and accelerated term lengths. Top applicants must also have a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, possess strong communication skills, value collaboration and teamwork, and have a proven track record of working with a diverse student body.

Work Performed
- Teach a variety of mathematics courses, including transitional support courses, college-level mathematics courses, and statistics.
- Develop and implement engaging and effective instructional materials and strategies for a variety of course modalities and term lengths.
- Utilize education technology effectively, including Learning Management Systems (LMS), online course development tools, graphing calculators, and free/low-cost software programs.
- Develop formative and summative assessments.
- Engage in curriculum development and assessment processes.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance educational practices and support student success.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Participate in meetings, committee work, professional development activities, college-wide initiatives, and community outreach activities.
- Cultivate and maintain constructive and supportive relationships with students, staff, and faculty members.
- Teach thirty credits per year of mathematics courses
- Hold 5 office hours per week

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, or a related (STEM) field, from a regionally accredited college or university, with 18 credit hours of graduate-level mathematics and/or statistics.
- A minimum of one year of full-time equivalent mathematics teaching experience with a diverse student population is also required.
- Authorized to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or higher in Mathematics or Statistics. Coursework in education is a bonus.
- At least three years of outstanding full-time equivalent mathematics teaching experience at the community college level.
- Ability to teach statistics plus other transitional support courses and college-level courses in mathematics.
- Experience with course development. Experience in incorporating and curating OER materials is a bonus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development.
- Evidence of leadership experience and contributions to departmental or institutional initiatives.
- Proficiency in using education technology.

Howard Community College offers competitive salaries, excellent medical and dental selections, tuition reimbursement and paid leave programs. As a participating member of the Maryland Retirement and Pension System, HCC offers two retirement options: The Pension, which requires a 7% employee contribution and The ORP, a 403(b) with a 7.25% employer contribution only. Employees in positions that do not require a bachelor’s degree must participate in The Pension. Employees that possess a bachelor’s degree and hold professional positions that require a bachelor’s degree may choose to participate in either The Pension or The ORP.
