Job Description

RESEARCH SCIENTIST 3 - COMPUTATIONAL, The Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), to work with Dr. Neil Thompson as part of the FutureTech research project, responsible for working collaboratively on projects that uncover and quantify the foundations of progress in AI: what are the most important technical and economic trends and what do these mean for important policy decisions by government and businesses; will be part of a multidisciplinary research group that includes computer scientists, engineers, and economists and plan and conduct original research that makes progress on FutureTech’s research aims of understanding the foundations of progress in computing.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED: Ph.D. in Computer Science, Economics or a related field; minimum of 7 years of related research experience, may include experience as a graduate student; experience advising officials and policy makers on the challenges of AI, in both the public and private sectors; ability to conduct academic research individually, to communicate technical concepts, and collaborate across different areas of expertise; robust publication record in relevant domains; and experience with AI policy decisions at the highest levels. PREFERRED: deep expertise in one or more areas and some expertise or experience across as many of the others as possible: Key issues in AI Policy, AI Trend Analysis, Technical underpinnings of AI.
