The University of Notre Dame is seeking an experienced Construction Administrator to oversee and manage construction projects on campus. The successful candidate will ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in the trades, combined with strong leadership and organizational skills to effectively manage large-scale construction projects. The position assumes responsibility for providing construction administration support and oversight, working with multiple project managers on various capital facility construction projects.

- New buildings
- Renovations
- Remodeling
- Utilities
- Roads
- Other site improvements
The Construction Administrator will be directly responsible for:
- Daily observance of construction activities
- Quality assurance/quality control
- Schedule conformance
- Documentation of all phases of construction
Additionally, this role requires effective coordination between construction operations and University operations to ensure minimal disruption to campus activities.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduate with completion of an apprentice trade school program.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience as a tradesperson.
- At least 5 years of experience as a jobsite superintendent overseeing projects with a construction cost of $5 million or more.
- Strong knowledge of various construction trades and building practices.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and building codes.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
Preferred Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of various building trades and construction processes, including:
- Building Trades Expertise: Proficiency in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, painting, HVAC systems, and sheet metal work.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with local, state, and federal building codes and regulations.
- Independence & Collaboration: Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with team members, architects, contractors, and skilled trades.
- Leadership & Relationship Management: Proven ability to maintain positive morale and strong working relationships, fostering a workplace free from harassment and discrimination.
- Workplace Environment: Skilled in maintaining an open, friendly environment, resolving concerns, and escalating issues when necessary.
- Technical & Contractual Expertise: Strong understanding of contract drawings, construction methods, scheduling, tools, and materials.
- Problem Solving & Adaptability: Capable of identifying and resolving workmanship issues, efficiently managing time, and adapting to changes.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Applications, AutoCAD, and construction software like Newforma, Procore, and eBuilder.
- Certifications: Completion of OSHA 30-Hour Training and current CPR/First Aid certification.
