The Senior Technical Assistant (WCC) is responsible for the following duties:
Placement Assessment Administration, Maintenance, Reporting, and Record Keeping: The Senior Technical Assistant will oversee the administration, maintenance, reporting, and record keeping of all assessments offered at the Testing and Assessment Center. This includes, but is not limited to, assessments such as ACCUPLACER and Directed Self-Placement Questionnaires. They will be responsible for coordinating assessment schedules, proctoring exams, and maintaining a secure and distraction free testing environment.
Additionally, the candidate will maintain accurate placement records for all students, which includes updating information and using automated systems in the PeopleSoft database.
The Senior Technical Assistant will generate and distribute reports to the Testing and Assessment Coordinator as required using ACCUPLACER, Qualtrics, and Peoplesoft. These reports may include assessment results, budget reports, and other relevant data.
Administrative Support: The Senior Technical Assistant will provide administrative support by preparing schedules and staffing for on-campus and virtual placement initiatives. They will attend meetings, contribute to process improvements, and maintain documentation of assessment procedures. The Senior Technical Assistant helps coordinate Testing and Assessment Proctors.
Additional responsibilities encompass processing requisitions, managing payroll tasks, handling new hiring paperwork, and fulfilling other assigned administrative duties. They will ensure labs/facilities, equipment and educational materials are readily available for faculty and student use. They will maintain the cleanliness of laboratories/facilities, as well as utilize equipment. Additionally, the Senior Technical Assistant will ensure confidentiality with student records and information, adhering to FERPA regulations and college policies.
Community Engagement and Student Support: The Senior Technical Assistant will be responsible for interacting and assisting the campus community and students on placement and onboarding related matters. This includes promptly addressing inquiries via phone, email, and other channels, guiding students through placement assessments, exam scheduling, and providing relevant information. The role requires independent decision-making and collaborative teamwork.
Other Duties as Assigned: The incumbent may perform other tasks related to the successful operation of the Testing and Assessment Center. The position requires strong proficiency in software tools such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, ACCUPLACER, Peoplesoft, Kurzweil, and Qualtrics.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a high school or equivalency diploma and at least three years of experience in the field.
The successful candidate must possess good computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. The successful candidate must have effective communication skills to be able to work with areas within the college, students, and with external agencies. The candidate must also be highly organized, detail oriented, and able to meet deadlines.
All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and evidence of equity-minded practice in all college policies, practices, and personnel.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: It is preferred that the candidate possess an Associate's degree from a nationally accredited college or university. Experience working in an educational institution or as a test proctor is strongly preferred. It is also strongly preferred that the candidate possess a valid driver's license.
Additional Information:
POSITION EFFECTIVE: The position will remain open until filled.
WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule will typically be Monday to Friday, from 8:00am to 4:00pm or 9:00am to 5:00pm. Duties may occasionally entail off-site travel and work during evenings and weekends as needed.
SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $51,473. Additional compensation with seniority steps maximize at a salary of $63,075. This position is fully grant funded. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, a choice of defined benefit or defined contribution pension plan, generous leave benefits, and access to tax sheltered annuities and a deferred compensation plan.
