Job Description
ITS is seeking a tech-savvy Microsoft 365 administrator to manage the administration, maintenance, and optimization of the university's Microsoft 365 environment. This role involves managing email services, collaboration tools, and cloud-based applications to ensure a seamless and secure digital environment for faculty, staff, and students. As a key player in our organization, you'll be responsible for ensuring our Microsoft 365 environment operates at its best, supporting the academic and administrative functions that make our university thrive.

- Manage user accounts, licenses, and permissions within the Microsoft 365 environment as necessary – work with the IAMS system to automate functions.
- Configure and maintain Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Teams.
- Monitor and optimize Microsoft 365 performance, security, and availability.
- Administer and troubleshoot Exchange Online for efficient email communication.
- Implement email security measures, including anti-phishing and anti-malware solutions.
- Collaborate with end-users to provide support for email-related issues.
- Configure and support Microsoft Teams for effective collaboration and communication.
- Manage SharePoint Online for document storage, sharing, and collaboration.
- Ensure seamless integration of Microsoft 365 applications with other university systems.
- Provide user support for Microsoft 365 applications and services.
- Develop training materials and conduct workshops to enhance user proficiency.
- Address user queries and resolve technical issues promptly.
- Implement and enforce security policies, including data loss prevention (DLP) and access control.
- Monitor for compliance with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., FERPA, GLBA, HIPAA).
- Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability assessments.
- Assist in designing data backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical university data.
- Assist with developing and maintaining disaster recovery plans for Microsoft 365 services.
- Maintain accurate documentation of Microsoft 365 configurations and changes.
- Generate regular reports on system performance, usage, and security.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
- Previous experience in Microsoft 365 administration, with Microsoft certifications preferred (e.g., Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate)
- Knowledge of email systems, collaboration tools, and cloud-based services
- Experience with PowerShell scripting for Microsoft 365 automation
- Familiarity with security best practices and compliance standards
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
- Experience in an educational institution or university setting
- Knowledge of single sign-on (SSO) and identity management solutions
- Familiarity with third-party Microsoft 365 add-ons and integrations
Working Conditions:
This is a hybrid position with on-campus, in-person responsibilities which may require occasional evening and weekend work. Remote work may be possible for exceptional candidates.
Office activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and interaction with computer equipment; occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 5-10 pounds.
