Job Title- DIRECTOR-LEGACY SCHOLARS PROGRAM

Position Status- Full Time

Classification Title- Administration-12 m

Work Location- Main Campus-3600 N. Garfield, Midland, TX

Job Summary- The Director of the Legacy Scholars Program is responsible for the daily administration and strategic development of the Legacy Scholars program. Works with College leadership, donors, and nonprofit representatives to successfully direct and oversee the program from scholars to fellows.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree; or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two years of nonprofit professional experience
  • Willingness to be a strong ambassador for the Legacy Scholars Program and an energetic and passionate leader
  • Strong communication skills (interpersonal, written, and presentation)
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a variety of departments and/or entities
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and lead a program
  • Proven ability to collect, interpret, and apply data
  • Readiness to embrace working in a diverse and inclusive environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency in fiscal management
  • Previous experience in effective administration of department or organization, including supervising
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policy

Essential Functions

  • Oversee and manage the application process for Legacy scholars and fellows
  • Develop and implement a robust nonprofit educational component for each stage of the Legacy Scholars Program
  • Provide academic, advising, and coaching support to Legacy scholars and fellows
  • Create partnerships with the nonprofit community, participating school districts, and funders
  • Coordinate with other college departments such as Student Services, Instruction, C3, and STRIVE Coaches
  • Plan for growth and development of the Legacy Scholars program
  • Oversee budget and all operations of the Legacy Scholars program, including supervision of the Associate Director
  • Responsible for strategic planning in collaboration with all stakeholders
  • Assist in curriculum development and teach lab portion of EDUC 1100 class-specific to Legacy cohorts
  • Design and present a communication and outreach plan to educate the community on the goals and requirements of the Legacy Scholars Program
  • Create, administer, and collate results of an annual survey to program participants (maintaining longitudinal data)
  • Develop an annual reporting structure and present to stakeholders on program outcomes
  • Coordinate with Institutional Advancement and Financial Aid to award scholarship recipients
  • Meet with Legacy scholars and fellows throughout each semester to discuss academic, career, philanthropic, and program goals and expectations
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to work extended hours, including some evenings and weekends, and attend Midland College or community events

Security Sensitivity- All Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. An employment offer is contingent on completion of a satisfactory criminal background investigation.

Min Salary- $70,000 (annualized salary)

Max Salary- $85,000 (annualized salary)

Pay Statement- Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
