Montgomery College, Maryland is seeking three outstanding full-time faculty members in our Mathematics, Statistics, and Data Science (MSDS) Department beginning January 2025. Montgomery College is located in suburban Washington, DC, serves a vibrant and diverse community with nationally known transfer programs as well as certificate programs for career starters and those pivoting for a new opportunity. Partnerships with local industries, federal labs, and transfer partners provide opportunities for students and faculty to engage beyond the classroom. Cutting-edge facilities allow us to support emerging programs in STEM and non-STEM fields. Mathematics, statistics, and data science are vital to all of these efforts and to our students’ success.

Montgomery College’s MSDS Area is known for its leadership in adopting new pedagogies including co-requisite developmental math support and innovative approaches to the teaching of statistics and other courses. In addition to statistics, the Calculus sequence, courses for education majors, and other mathematics courses, we offer courses in biostatistics and data science. We offer AS degrees in Data Science and Mathematics.

We are seeking three enthusiastic and dedicated colleagues who are committed to supporting the full range of our students - including Early College, Honors, developmental students, math majors and the math phobic - in their pursuit of understanding the quantitative world.  Montgomery College has excellent STEM programs including one of the most successful Engineering programs nationwide among two-year colleges, so the successful candidates will be committed to helping students make real-world interdisciplinary connections to the mathematics they are learning and demonstrate the capacity to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. They will also be committed to equity and inclusion in the classroom, to serving students with diverse learning needs, to innovative approaches to instruction, and will value teaching in a multicultural environment.

While faculty at the College teach at all three campuses and online, one faculty position will be located in the Rockville campus MSDS Department, the second position will be in the Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus MSDS Department, and the third position will be in the Germantown campus MSDS Department. These positions are part of a collective bargaining unit.
