Brief Position Overview
This position provides cleaning maintenance service for interiors/exteriors of the Great Falls College MSU campus. Primary emphasis is on carpeted and hard-surfaced floor maintenance, trash removal, restroom cleaning and supplies, building security, removal of snow, ice, dirt and debris from entrances, sidewalks and parking lot, and other related duties. Custodians may work individually or on a team in one of multiple assigned areas.

General Statement
This position provides cleaning maintenance service for interiors/exteriors of the Great Falls College MSU campus. Primary emphasis is on carpeted and hard-surfaced floor maintenance, trash removal, restroom cleaning and supplies, building security, removal of snow, ice, dirt and debris from entrances, sidewalks and parking lot, and other related duties. Custodians may work individually or on a team in one of multiple assigned areas.
Duties and Responsibilities
- General Daily Cleaning.
- Building/Facility Security/Safety.
- Light maintenance duties.
- Grounds maintenance.
- Event and Room setup and teardown.
- Additional assignments requested by supervisor.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
- High school diploma, GED.
- One year of custodial/janitorial experience.
- Knowledge of products, equipment, and tools required to clean and maintain the facility including floor buffers, automatic scrubbers and commercial carpet cleaners as well as commercial cleaning products and chemicals.
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work under minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Able to organize and prioritize tasks with specific time frames.
Special Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Physical Demands Ability to work on feet for extended periods (up to an eight-hour shift with appropriate breaks). Must be able to move and transport up to 50 pounds while ascending and descending stairs, be able to use ladders and floor machinery safely, and have knowledge of how to use potentially toxic cleaning products safely. Ability to ascend and descend ladders safely. Must be able to work in a variety of environments, including temperature extremes and around noise, dust, direct sunlight and chemicals. Must be able to operate vehicles and equipment in a safe and effective manner in all types of environments. Ability to respond to after-hours emergency call outs and occasional shift changes.
