Job Summary
Mesa Community College (MCC) was awarded a Title V Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions (DHSI) grant. The Students & Employees Nurtured & Developed for Academic Success (SENDAS) Project aims to enhance and integrate student support; create a robust professional development program for faculty and staff; and develop a more inclusive hiring process. This position will focus on researching financial literacy best practices to be utilized in the classroom and for co-curricular activities, supervising student employees to serve as financial literacy peer-mentors, and coordinating grant-related and college activities for new and returning students. The focus of financial literacy for grant-related activities will be teaching students how to 1) recognize and define personal values and how they impact savings and spending, 2) create a personal budget and establish a plan to achieve a short- or long-term financial goal, and 3) research scholarship opportunities, write a scholarship essay, and complete a scholarship application.
Essential Functions
40% Conducts financial literacy presentations, events, workshops, meeting one-on-one with students, and recording and editing of the financial literacy podcast
15% Collaborates with New Student Orientation (NSO), financial aid, faculty, and other internal or external stakeholders to provide financial literacy programming.
15% Provides basic coordination and oversight of an assigned program; responds to inquiries and solves problems in accordance with policies and procedures and coordinates targeted financial literacy outreach through phone, text, and email campaigns. Creates/prepares/distributes promotional materials for Financial Literacy workshops and events
10% Performs basic research and preliminary analysis related to financial literacy; gathers pertinent information and compiles, analyzes and summarizes data and information. Assists with the development and implementation of financial literacy program guidelines and procedures.
10% Hires, plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, trains, reviews, evaluates, disciplines, and terminates the work of financial literacy student employee peer mentors.
10% Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, business or public administration, or a directly related field and one year of experience in researching information, gathering data, performing preliminary analysis and preparing reports.
OR
Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and three years of experience in researching information, gathering data, performing preliminary analysis and preparing reports.
OR
High School Diploma/GED and five years of experience in researching information, gathering data, performing preliminary analysis, and preparing reports.
Desired Qualifications
- One (1) or more years or experience leading a team
- One (1) or more years experience developing and delivering presentations to large groups, small groups, or one-on-one.
- Experience in researching and creating financial literacy programming.
- Experience in collecting and analyzing data to determine program/presentation efficacy and impact
- One (1) or more years experience with training a team
Special Working Conditions
Required to travel to multiple sites or locations.
Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense.
Work schedule may include multiple evenings and weekends. Summer work schedule is Mon-Thurs 7am-6pm.
Required to sit for a prolonged period of time; viewing a computer monitor.
