Applications for Part-Time, Adjunct Instructor pools are continually accepted (unless otherwise specified) by the District. Southwestern College is looking to hire a part-time instructor to teach Introduction to African American Culture (AFRO 151): The curriculum Introduces the origins and development of African-American culture from its origins in West and Central Africa to its contemporary manifestations in the United States. Emphasizes the critical analysis of the historical, political, cultural and sociological aspects of the African-American experience in the arenas of family, politics, education, religion, and the arts.
Class modality is face-to-face. Classes may be held during weekdays, and/or evenings at any of the campus sites (Chula Vista, National City, Otay Mesa, and/or San Ysidro).
Qualifications
Master’s in African American Studies, Black Studies, Africana Studies OR Bachelor’s degree in African-American/Black/Africana Studies AND Master’s in Ethnic Studies OR the equivalent.
Applicants with foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside of the United States must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, INC.(ACEI). A copy of the evaluation must be submitted with online application.
