Program and Grants Manager, Shalek Lab

Job Description

PROGRAM AND GRANTS MANAGER, Institute for Medical Engineering and Science (IMES), to manage operations and finances for the Shalek Lab, a multidisciplinary and multi-institutional group of researchers, staff, and students.  Specific duties include performing pre-award and post-award financial management of complex sponsored programs; providing high-level support to the principal investigator (PI), Professor Alex Shalek; and liaising with the IMES finance team and MIT’s central offices to manage the finances associated with the lab’s large research programs. Will coordinate complex billing agreements and grants management across three research institutions, requiring gaining fluency in the administrative and financial processes of MIT, the Broad Institute, and the Ragon Institute; serve as the primary point of contact for the PI’s research portfolio and allocation of funds; and liaise with key stakeholders to ensure that staff, postdoc, and student appointments across all institutions are set up correctly and accurately.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree, at least five years of financial administration experience, experience with budget preparation and forecasting, and progressively responsible leadership experience.  PREFERRED:  master’s degree, higher education experience, research administration experience, MIT experience, and experience managing and leading others.  Job #24324-9
