POSITION OVERVIEW: We are seeking a dynamic and creative Communications and Social Media Manager to join our team. Communications and Social Media Manager will be responsible for all aspects of FVCC's and Wachholz College Center's social media accounts, as well as writing, editing, and producing weekly newsletters and email marketing campaigns that inform and engage the campus and community. In this role, the Communications and Social Media Manager will be responsible for the creation of all digital content and videos for FVCC and Wachholz College Center. The Communication and Social Media Manager is the point of contact for all student-related activities and responsible for all aspects of maintaining and promoting the Wachholz College Center and FVCC events calendars with the goal of increasing awareness of students and the community.
Note: This full-time position requires a flexible schedule to accommodate events that frequently occur outside regular business hours, including evenings and weekends.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops, manages and evolves FVCC and Wachholz College Center's social media presence on platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn.
- Conceptualizes, writes, photographs, films, edits and posts engaging media content that promotes all aspects of FVCC and Wachholz College Center with the intent to share news, campus updates, events and programs and promote participation.
- Tells the story of FVCC and Wachholz College Center with a fresh and creative perspective using a variety of methods and tools, not limited to photography, video, dynamic and compelling writing, audio, engaging graphics and user-generated content across multiple social media platforms.
- Writes, designs, edits and distributes three weekly digital newsletters for FVCC that highlights campus news, events, and announcements for Faculty, Staff, Students and the Wachholz College Center and uses email marketing and newsletters to create brand lift and drive ticket sales.
- Writes, designs, edits and creates a printed campus events bulletin to be distributed across campus informing anyone on campus about happening and events.
- Serves as the point of contact for photographic and video coverage of all FVCC and Wachholz College Center events.
- Builds, maintains and grows a digital community through social media channels, blogs, email and websites, ensuring social media and video marketing content is consistent with FVCC and Wachholz College Center’s brand, style, voice and community, and ensures all content is consistent with college messaging, best practices, policies, and procedures.
- Monitors and responds, as needed, to comments on social media accounts, following guidance and best practices set by the Executive Director of College Relations, Marketing and Communications.
- Designs, implements, and refines social media metrics and performance tracking strategies to gauge success, informs future content creation, and drives continuous improvement in engagement and reach across all platforms.
- Manages on-campus physical bulletin boards, including the approval and posting of posters and signage.
- Actively participates in the development of a climate that promotes and supports innovation and efforts to continuously improve services and information provided to students, faculty, FVCC and Wachholz College Center.
- Fosters and nurtures relationships across campus to ensure seamless information flow, enhancing transparency and keeping both the public and campus community fully informed FVCC and Wachholz College Center events.
- Maintains professional ethics and confidentiality of students in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
- Cross trains to perform other departmental and team functions; backfills for staff as needed.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, as required by the event schedule.
- Creates and maintains a collaborative and collegial environment with colleagues and maintains effective working relationships
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Reports to Executive Director of Communications and Marketing, with a dotted line to the Communications and Marketing Manager of Wachholz College Center.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media or related field and a minimum of one year of professional related work experience; OR,
- Associate’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media or related field and a minimum of three years of professional related work experience; OR,
- A combination of five years of higher education and professional related work experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two to four years’ experience in marketing, public relations, communications, filming, photography, editing, creating and writing digital content for websites, social media and newsletters.
- Proven experience managing multiple social media accounts for an organization, institution or higher education.
- Experience promoting speakers, musicians and cultural performances.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent and effective communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and information to groups of people, as well identify and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders across campus, in the community for FVCC and with artist management as needed for Wachholz College Center.
- A keen eye for detail and the ability to continuously think strategically and creatively, ensuring optimal investment of time and effort relative to the task's significance.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with email marketing platforms and digital newsletter creation and optimization.
- Passion for higher education, FVCC’s mission to serve its students and the community as well as Wachholz College Center’s mission to provide a cultural and performance hub for the community.
- Ability to effectively organize multiple work assignments, involving competing priorities, to produce at the highest level resulting in optimal effort toward meeting FVCC and Wachholz College Center’s overall goals and strategic plans.
- Able to self-motivate and take initiative on projects and relationships, as well as effectively work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, as required by the event schedule.
- Ability to build working relationships and meaningfully collaborate with internal and external contacts.
- Ability to envision new and expanded possibilities, analyze data, identify connections, and formulate new or innovative approaches and insights.
- Strong knowledge of standard office software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google tools
- Ability to work within policies and procedures of FVCC

- This is a Medium Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Medium Duty involves exertion of 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
