Position Summary

The Digital Content Editor will work closely with other members of the Communications Department to develop and deliver Clark messaging and information across all digital platforms.

Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
 

  • Plan, manage and execute daily (or more frequent) posts to all of the Clark’s social media platforms (including Facebook, Instagram, and Threads as well as future developing platforms) capturing the life of the Clark in vibrant images and content.
  • Write and develop high-quality content that captures the Clark’s voice and engages audiences.
  • Stay informed of and aware of ongoing social media trends and practices to find opportunities to present the Clark and its collections in a relevant manner.
  • Monitor all Clark social media platforms on a daily basis to address any potential issues, regulate inappropriate comments, etc. Report issues of concern to Director of Communications and work to address any issues/irregularities.
  • Daily oversight and regular updating of all sections of the Clark website through Kentico, Raiser’s Edge, Counterpoint, and Outbound and other software programs utilized by the Clark.
  • Act as internal resource for all departments to support website content.
  • Assume key internal team leadership role in developing the Clark’s Bloomberg Connects app, including content development, image sourcing, and back-end management. Work with multiple departments to ensure content delivery and collaborate with outside partners to coordinate activities in support of the app.
  • Strategic work to enhance the Clark’s search engine optimization performance and Google grants activity.
  • Development of new web-based content to keep clarkart.edu lively and informative.
  • Work with curatorial team to create upcoming exhibitions & microsite pages for Exhibitions section of website.
  • Responsible for developing alt-text and implementing its use on clarkart.edu website and ingallery app; work as part of a larger team to execute on-going alt-text project.
  • Create and send weekly eblasts through Raiser’s Edge in support of marketing Clark events and exhibitions.
  • Create video and still images to enhance the Clark’s digital media presence, including developing reels, short videos, etc. Responsible for photographing a variety of Clark events, activities, etc.
  • Coordinate messages, calendars, and schedules across all digital platforms. Create events on social media platforms to expand awareness of Clark activities.
  • Provide immediate updates to Clark website/social platforms in the event of emergency situations.
  • Update digital properties, including email signature, daily digital admissions screens, weekly auditorium PowerPoint.
  • Cross-train on all calendar-related software and activities to provide assistance to Communications Manager and Editor/Production Manager on as-needed basis.
  • Update clarkart.edu homepage regularly to provide information on current activities. Create slider content for homepage.
  • Collaboration with other departments to generate new materials and content for all platforms. Work closely with all departments to grow the Clark’s digital presence and relevance across a variety of platforms.
  • Track and analyze web traction through Meta GA4; track and analyze Bloomberg data dashboard; use information to provide recommendations for enhancements and improvements to visitor experience.
  • Brainstorm ideas for using social networks to engage the Clark’s audience in new ways, including development of concepts for campaigns, contests, etc.
  • Work with the Clark’s consultants to create paid digital advertising and awareness campaigns.
  • Build and grow the Clark’s community of followers in various social networks and stay apprised of emerging platforms to analyze, recommend, and execute further extension of the Clark’s social media presence.
  • Archive and organize press clippings of Clark Art Institute for use on Board of Trustees portal and to create staff updates on coverage. Use these materials to maintain permanent media archive.
  • Develop and manage a monthly reporting system to track and measure the Clark’s digital engagement with a goal of providing feedback on the success of various messages and optimizing the Clark’s social media presence.
  • Work as a vital team member in the Clark’s marketing and communications efforts.
  • Pursue further development of other existing/emerging platforms (as appropriate).
  • Organize, tag, and archive non–collection images in appropriate files on Clark servers and digital asset management app.
  • Collaborate with community partners to enhance digital presence on multiple platforms.
  • Regularly update multiple community calendar submissions to raise awareness of Clark events.
  • Maintain high quality of written and visual communications tools at all times, consistent with the Clark’s voice and brand standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of related experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook platform, Excel, Powerpoint, Photoshop; proficiency with Outbound, Kentico, Raiser’s Edge preferred. Ability to learn to operate in these platforms and others will be critical to completion of duties.
  • Demonstrated strong writing skills.
  • Previous professional social media experience strongly preferred.
  • Photography/videography expertise.
  • Demonstrated interest in the arts.
  • Must be willing and available to regularly work overtime, including evenings and weekends.


Minimum Starting Rate: $25.50/hr.

  • Physical Demands: The position requires working at desk and using a computer for prolonged periods of time. The position also requires standing, walking, bending, climbing, and reaching.

 

  • Work Environment: Work will usually be performed in an office environment and museum spaces. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
