ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:
Adjunct instructors are part-time faculty hired to teach a specified course/s on a per-semester basis. The opportunity to continue teaching at the college is assessed every semester, and criteria for re-employment include the following: Attention to administrative deadlines (i.e., setting up course prior to semester start, timely grading of student work, tracking attendance), timely and professional communication with students and colleagues, and course evaluations.
Current openings are for DAYTIME classes running at the Scranton campus (in person) for Fall 2024. The semester begins August 26th, 2024, so prompt submissions are encouraged and welcomed.
Primary disciplines of available courses include accounting and international business.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepares lesson plans and instructs students in a classroom setting. Our teaching philosophy embraces interaction, discussion, and projects where students are engaged and part of the learning process. Instructors should not stand and lecture for a class period. Creativity in communicating course material is essential to your success.
- Thoroughly prepares and teaches all course lessons, considering diverse adult learners and accounting for current trends and industry regulations.
- Provides support and guidance to students to optimize learning outcomes.
- Completes and maintains all required documentation and records while meeting established deadlines, including, but not limited to, syllabi, grades, midterm and final grades, attendance, and end-of-semester reflection on Student Learning Objectives (SLOs).
- Fosters a professional and supportive classroom environment conducive to students learning, asking questions, thinking critically, and growing as individuals.
- Provides meaningful hands-on application of material to reinforce transfer of learning.
- All other duties as required by the Academic Dean.

EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree required, including a minimum of 18 credits in any combination of business courses (e.g., accounting, marketing, management, sport management, finance, economics, computer information management, operations, human resources, etc.)
- Master’s degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrated experience teaching, coaching, and/or mentoring diverse groups.
- Experience as a successful practitioner in corporate or non-profit organizations to support course material with real-world examples.
- Proficiency using Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas).
