Job Requisition Number 00002279
Field(s) of Specialization Molecular or Cell Biology
Position Title Postdoctoral Research Scientist
Department PAT Pathology
Division Pathology
Location Medical Center
Summary Description

The Department of Pathology and Cell Biology at the Columbia University Medical Center would like to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to work in the lab of Dr. Andrew Teich. Our lab focuses on Alzheimer’s disease, but through multiple collaborations we also have projects that address other neurodegenerative diseases of aging. Candidates should have an MD or PhD degree and first author publications demonstrating project leadership. Candidates will be considered who have demonstrated outstanding research in molecular or cell biology outside of neuroscience as long as they have a clear rationale for why they are now interested in neurodegenerative disease. Our laboratory is a wet/dry lab that does both experimental work as well as computational analysis of genome and genomic expression data. The job candidate would thus have the opportunity to work in an integrated environment and further his or her exposure to bioinformatics. The PI is also the Director of the New York Brain Bank, and this serves as a resource both for our research as well as for the education of laboratory members in neurodegenerative disease biology. Please contact the PI (Dr. Andrew Teich; email: aft25@cumc.columbia.edu) to inquire for more details.

Minimum Degree Required

Requires a Ph.D. and/or M.D.

Minimum Qualifications

First author publications demonstrating project leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in molecular or cell biology, preferably in neuroscience.

Additional Information

Candidates who can also be considered are those who have demonstrated outstanding research in molecular or cell biology outside of neuroscience as long as they have a clear rationale for why they are now interested in the neurogenerative disease.
