The Parenting Education Faculty works to create high quality education programming that aligns with the college’s mission, vision, and process in the Parenting Education Department and the Family Resource and Education Center. This position oversees the Parenting Success Network grant and programming by representing the Parenting Education Department in the Parenting Success Network within Linn, Benton, and Lincoln counties.

This Includes:
Developing parenting classes, working with community partners, and developing and managing programs funded by contracts and grants. Additionally, this assignment requires outreach to the community and coordination of various programs, which includes year-round work, as well as evening, late afternoon and off-campus work.

Education and Experience:
    • Master’s degree, or a minimum of 27 graduate hours in Human Development, Family Studies, Education, Social Work or a related field.

 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience working with and teaching parents, writing and managing grants, and working in community collaborations.
  • Experience promoting equity and inclusion practices in the workplace.
  • Valid Oregon drivers license or the ability to obtain one within 60 days from hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching parenting education.
  • Knowledge of evidence based parenting education curriculums
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Requires the ability to work with staff and students. Work is performed in an office or classroom setting with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards.
Essential Duties:
  • Support and advance the entire perspective of Parenting Education by developing, coordinating and continuously improving parenting education program offerings throughout Linn, Benton and Lincoln Counties.
  • Assume a leadership role in community planning by assisting community groups to offer high quality parenting education. Act as department liaison to community organizations that offer or want to offer parenting education. Develop partnerships with and provide tangible assistance to agencies working with children and families.
  • Ensure the development and delivery of high quality and innovative classes that respond to emerging trends and community needs.
  • Write grants to initiate and maintain Parent Success Network programs. Ensure requirements of all Funders related to program implementation, budgeting, reporting and other deliverables are met.
  • Ensure programs meet objectives through on-going evaluation and monitoring of outcomes.
  • Develop and manage public awareness and social media efforts of the Parent Success Network
  • Provide leadership and facilitate the Strategic Planning Committee for the Parenting Success Network.
  • Responsible for recruiting, selecting, orienting and supporting LBCC part-time faculty for the Parenting Success Network programming.
  • Participate on department, division, and college committees as assigned.
  • Work respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives and abilities
  • Maintain competency in parenting education philosophy, trends, and policies.
