About the Department

Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) reports to the Vice Provost for NC State Continuing and Lifelong Education (NCSCaLE). The CPE team, based at the McKimmon Conference & Training Center, provides space, equipment, and services to adult learners attending seminars, workshops, short courses, conferences, video conferences, and webinars. Client Relations and the NCSCaLE Technology team collaborate closely to meet those needs.

The Technology & Support Team is responsible for the client set-ups and support services before, during, and after each client’s program. The Technology & Support Team ensures that rooms and equipment are clean and in good working order. In addition to the opening and closing of the center, as well as the security and inventory of all equipment, furnishings, and contents belonging to the MCTC, fall under their responsibilities.

MCTC is a 116,500 square foot facility which is located on the southwest section of the university campus. It accommodates both small and large conferences ranging from 5 to 1,200 participants. MCTC features 14 flexible meeting rooms which can be subdivided into 22 areas and two computer labs.

Essential Job Duties

We are looking for reliable Multi-Media Technicians to join our team who will help us support our Conference and Training Center! The Technology and Support Team is responsible for the client set-ups and support services before, during, and after each client’s program. The Technology and Support Team ensures that rooms and equipment are clean and in good working order. In addition to the opening and closing of the center, as well as the security and inventory of all equipment, furnishings, and contents belonging to the MCTC, fall under their responsibilities.

This position is part of our Technology & Support Team, where we collaborate to set up flexible meeting spaces for our clients and provide support throughout their programs.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Arrange classroom furniture. This position requires you to lift 90 pounds regularly and involves extensive standing throughout the shift.
  • Setting up classroom technology involves integrating various tools such as microphones, computers, projectors, streaming equipment, document cameras, sound boards, and lighting.
  • Conducting live streams across multiple platforms.
  • Overseeing the Event Prep Team during room set-ups.
  • Engaging with clients to find out their needs.

Other Responsibilities

  • Properly ensure opening and/or closing of the Center and secure all areas of the McKimmon Center after all non-employee personnel have departed, and as instructed by the Assistant Director, Director, or Vice-Provost office.
  • Observe and manage the flow of visitors in the Center and secure areas of the building as needed.
  • Monitor and adjust temperature controls in the building as necessary and advise Facilities Operations of problem areas.
  • Open and close building during weekend rotations duty and as requested.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned or needed by the Support/Logistic Manager or Executive Management.

Minimum Experience/Education

High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in audiovisual equipment operation and maintenance, graphic design, and/or photography; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Working knowledge of computers, wireless, and network systems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively under pressure, exhibit adaptability, and showcase flexibility.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to work independently but also work as a collaborative team member and play an integral part in creating a positive work environment.
  • Proficiency with different streaming platforms such as Panopto, Zoom, MS Teams, GoToMeeting, Cisco Webex, etc
