Essential Job Duties

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Landscape Maintenance and Operations Planner to join our team. Our Landscape Maintenance and Operations Unit supports the University’s expansive landscape and facilities, overseeing diverse programs and services. This role benefits from experience in landscape maintenance, turf management, irrigation, stormwater management, tree care, landscape construction, waste reduction, and recycling, but we also welcome candidates who are eager to learn and grow in these areas.

Key responsibilities and duties include, but not limited to:

  • Possess strong knowledge in plan review, Bluebeam, estimating, project management, and hardscape construction; organize monthly Bluebeam review sessions; research materials and costs, schedule projects, manage change orders, and track expenses.
  • Update and manage the electronic database, monitor and bill AiM work orders, renew and create landscape service agreements, and prepare and manage work orders, prioritizing tasks and verifying measurements and costs.
  • Collaborate with the AiM ready team to manage service and event requests for WRR and Landscape Services.
  • Analyze and create small inventory reports, present findings, and recommend surplus and upgrades to improve processes and cost savings.
  • Implement a paperless system for equipment surplus requests and train staff, while developing a tracking system for equipment costs and depreciation with recommendations for updates.
  • Communicate asset tracking discrepancies and coordinate adjustments, review LM&O accounts, and notify supervisors of equipment reassignments.
  • Consult with stakeholders to understand project requirements, provide training on department processes, and manage projects, including attending walkthroughs and following up on action items.
  • Serve as a central hub for ordering supplies, developing service agreements, coordinating events, and supporting maintenance functions in LM&O, including ordering, estimating, design review, permit processing, and overall support.
  • Interpret policies and regulations, and maintain knowledge of local, state, and federal landscape maintenance, waste reduction, construction, and stormwater regulations.

Other Responsibilities

  • Position serves in a critical role and employee must work during adverse weather conditions and may be required to work even if the University is closed to normal operations.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Experience/Education

Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
 
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Other Required Qualifications

  • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally with supervisors and the general public and understand verbal and written instructions and other communications regarding work assignments and other matters.
  • Ability to interpret and apply a variety of interrelated policies, procedures, and programs for clients and to address clients’ routine & non-routine issues.
  • Ability to maintain program/project databases, schedules and reports.
  • Ability to ensure accuracy of data and compliance with program standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in project management, billing, and invoicing preferred.
  • Proficient skills in Google or Microsoft office suites, Google systems, Bluebeam Revu,GIS, AERES, and AIM work management system.

Required License or Certification

  • Valid Driver’s License Required.
  • North Carolina Driver’s License required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained.
