Job Description

Class Description

The purpose of this class is to perform professional level duties in assisting in the coordination and completion of daily operations of assigned College division or function.



One Opening on Essex Campus and One Opening on the Catonsville Campus.

Minimum Requirements

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Four (4) years minimum of experience in general services, or similar operational, environment (i.e. Mail Operations, Shipping & Receiving).
  3. Previous supervisory experience.
  4. Trained in use of fork lift and other appropriate equipment.
  5. Flexibility and ability to change shift when requested.
  6. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record of less than five points on driving record.
  7. Ability to participate in Blood Bourne pathogens training within six months of employment.
  8. Hepatitis B vaccination or a signed waiver.
Background Check:
  • Candidates may be required to successfully pass a background investigation, to include fingerprint and criminal history evaluation.
  • Candidates may be required to successfully complete a pre-hire, post-offer   physical examination.
This is an Essential Position and the employee must be available for building emergencies, and to perform regular duties or other assigned duties at times when the campus is closed to students and non-essential staff.  Subject to 24-hours standby or call-in for building emergencies.  May be required to work overtime or special hours as needed or required.

Position Specific Essential Duties

This position has the hands-on day-to-day administration and operation of the General Services functionality of Facilities Management:
Mail Services

  1. Maintains current understanding and compliance of United States Postal Service regulations and procedures.
  2. Oversees the mail operations, including coordinating requesting replenishment of meter allocation to the appropriate department personnel and ensures the efficient and expedient mail services on and off campus.
  3. Facilitates the appropriate recordkeeping of incoming and outgoing mail and postage used in the operation of mailing equipment.  Completes written reports as required/ directed.
  4. Oversees the private-carrier portion of the express/overnight delivery process.
 
Central Receiving & Event Set-Up
  1. Oversees the Central Receiving Area of receiving, unloading, verifying, documenting and disbursing of equipment and supplies.  Prepares materials for return of all damaged items or items that were shipped in error, when necessary.
  2. Coordinates and performs routine set-up and breakdown of college furniture/equipment; as well as, in the coordination and implementation of college and non-college events/activities.
  3. Implements and ensures an efficient storage system on campus for surplus furniture and assists in the delivery of furniture deliveries and furniture relocation/allocation.
 
Functional Duties
  1. Supervises and evaluates the work, and trains as needed, the work of General Services Technicians I and II, General Services Clerks and General Services Specialists.
  2. Provides back-up support to other Facilities Management responsibilities.
  3. Participates in snow removal or duties as assigned in response to college emergencies, as necessary and/or directed.
  4. Effectively performs in a service environment and follows all county, state, college, and departmental policies and procedures.
