Mentor: Dr. Susan Birket, Department of Pulmonary, Allergy, & Critical Care Medicine

Postdoctoral fellow position open to study cystic fibrosis and other disorders of mucus clearance in a well-funded (NIH, CFF) research laboratory focused on the interaction of mucus and infection. Of particular interest is the cell type distribution throughout the airway, with an emphasis on the CFTR expression and subsequent expression of mucus. The individual should have experience designing, interpreting, and performing experiments using animal models of disease; and/or standard bacterial genetic manipulation techniques. The position requires performing and designing experiments, writing manuscripts for publication and presentation, and a high level of self-motivation. The successful candidate must be innovative and interested in pursuing an independent research effort upon successful completion of the fellowship. Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree required.
