Summary of Position

The Department of Education in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of New Hampshire invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor position beginning August 2024 in the area of Elementary Education Teacher Preparation. We seek candidates who understand the barriers facing traditionally underrepresented groups in PK-12 and who have engaged in teaching, research, and service that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.

We seek candidates with a record of demonstrated excellence in teaching in public elementary schools, preferably in New Hampshire, and who also have substantial experience teaching elementary education methods courses at the university level. Responsibilities for this position will include teaching five courses per academic year, primarily undergraduate courses serving our B.A. in Education and Dual Major in Educational Studies, including, for example, Introduction to Educational Studies, Exploring Teaching, Teaching Elementary Social Studies, and Teaching Elementary School Science.

Other responsibilities will include advising undergraduate and master’s students in educator preparation programs, working with cooperating teachers, and supervising student interns. Service responsibilities include department, college, community, university, and professional service.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications

Requirements for Clinical Assistant Professor Position

  • PhD in Education
  • At least five years as a public elementary school teacher, preferably in New Hampshire
  • Experience teaching educational foundations courses and elementary teaching methods courses at the university level
  • Experience developing curriculum materials for diverse student groups
  • Experience working at the university level to advance educator preparation goals and develop related curriculum (e.g., serving on educator preparation focused committees)

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience advising undergraduate and/or graduate students
  • Experience conducting community engaged research
