This is responsible non-sworn police work in the St. Petersburg Police Department, involving the investigation and dissemination of tips received that may include criminal activity such as crimes against persons, property, and criminal traffic offenses. Work includes analyzing information received through various computer applications and determining the correct outlet for the information received. Work involves assisting sworn detectives with research and preparation of criminal cases to include contact with witnesses and victims as well as the completion of follow-up reports. Testifying in court and referring completed cases to the State Attorney will also be expected. An employee in this position must exercise a high degree of discretion and tact when handling sensitive or confidential information or records.
Salary: $22.76 - $34.80 Hourly

To Qualify
Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
- Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver License.
- Be skilled in the use of Microsoft Office (specifically Word, with an aptitude for learning the remaining components of Microsoft Office).
- Be able to objectively analyze situations and determine the proper course of action.
- Be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
- Be able to understand, retain and follow complex rules, regulations, orders, and instructions, delivered both in writing and orally.
- Be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Be skilled with social media and its usage.
Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
- Have some knowledge of applicable state laws and municipal ordinances necessary for effective completion of duties.
- Have some knowledge of the geography of the city and surrounding areas.
- It would be preferred, but not required, if you had prior law enforcement experience.
