Department Purpose
The Year to Career Program is federally funded through the United States Department of Labor (USDOL) and designed to advance equitable outcomes for new majority learners by developing micro-pathways that can serve as models for sustainable systems changes. The micro-pathways provide innovative methods of skill attainment for high demand occupations in the healthcare and IT industries. The micro-pathways also serve as on-ramps to degree pathways for extensive education and training.

Position Summary
The Year to Career Program Coordinator, assists the Year to Career Director in managing smooth operating procedures of the PCC Year to Career program, including establishing processes and workflow documents to ensure effective day-to-day management and adherence to federal data collection and reporting guidelines. This position is also responsible for promoting the Year to Career programs to prospective students, community partners, and community-based organizations to increase enrollment in the program.

(Work-based learning encompasses, but is not limited to, registered apprenticeships, internships, job shadowing, industry tours, and informational interviews. Placement opportunities refer to paid employment opportunities for Year to Career graduates).

This position has been identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) in accordance with Department of Education guidelines. As a CSA, the incumbent is required to report crimes that they become aware of to the Department of Public Safety and must attend related annual training.

**This is a grant funded position through February 28, 2027. Continuation of the position is contingent upon continued funding. **

Job Duties

 

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting work-based learning opportunities as well as job placement opportunities for Year to Career micro-pathway learners.
  • Will work with community partners as well as business and industry leaders to secure work-based learning and placement opportunities, while simultaneously ensuring that efforts align with the PCC strategic directions of student success and collaborative partnerships.
  • Coordinates outreach activities to develop prospect lists and campaigns designed to target underserved populations.
  • Assists students with achieving their academic and career goals by engaging with them from first point of contact/recruitment, supporting them through their educational micro-pathway in the Year to Career program.
  • Assist students to effectively transition into navigating employment opportunities.
  • Analyzes recruitment event outcomes to determine recruiting process effectiveness.
  • Maintains necessary documents and records for compliance with USDOL required paperwork and documentation.
  • Ensures that the micro-pathway offerings in healthcare and IT are continuously aligned with industry trends and employer needs by analyzing qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Assists the Year to Career Director in managing smooth operating procedures of the PCC Year to Career program.
  • Establishes processes and workflow documents to ensure effective day-to-day management and adherence to federal data collection and reporting guidelines.
  • Removes barriers that may impede students' academic and career success by connecting students to resources and departments at Pueblo Community College as well as with the broader community.
  • Coordinates recruiting activities with educational and community partners.
  • Schedules recruiting events, outreach activities, campus tours, and site visits.
  • Supports applicants by providing general information, assisting them with applications for funding, preparing for testing, and referring to other campus resources as needed.
  • Develops relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with Marketing and Communications to develop promotional publications for prospective students and community partners.
  • Assists the Year to Career Director with preparing and managing grant budget.
  • Attends external events as the college’s representative.
