Job Description

Gogebic Community College seeks candidates for a full-time tenure-track faculty position to
teach English courses at our Ironwood campus and/or Copper Country Center beginning the Fall
of 2024. We seek a candidate with excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication
skills, someone with the ability to use technology to enhance teaching and learning, and one who
is familiar with student outcomes assessment.


This position reports to the Vice President of Academic Services. The salary for this position
begins at $53,531.98 on the MAHE BA +30/Initial Step schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Providing lead instruction in English courses including but not limited to developmental
instruction in our Accelerated Learning Program, composition, literature, technical
writing, and creative writing.
• Selecting, developing, and revising course materials as necessary.
• Keeping students informed regarding course requirements, evaluation measures, and
attendance policies.
• Posting and maintaining regular office hours.
• Participating in faculty discussions of curriculum, teaching-learning techniques, and
teaching materials.
• Participating in department and college meetings and committees

Required Qualifications:
• A minimum of 18 graduate credits in English from a U.S. Department of Education
regionally accredited college or university and
• A Master’s Degree in English or related field from a U.S. Department of Education
regionally accredited college or university.


Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree in English.
• Experience teaching English, community-college level preferred, with a broad background
in developmental, composition, literature, and creative writing

to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to
adjust focus.
