Required Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Computer Science, MBA or a related discipline with a minimum of 15 hours in discipline or related professional work experience. College-level teaching experience, preferably at a community college. Familiarity with online instruction. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Professional work experience developing applications. Experience working with advisory committees and on curriculum and course development. CompTIA or other industry certification. A background in academic assessment at the course and/or program level. Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
 

Job Summary
The Full-Time Computer Information Systems Instructor will teach teach computer science and computer information systems to a diverse student population. Stays abreast of ongoing developments, trends, and issues in computing as well as instruction in the community college environment. Serves on various committees, and perform other duties normally associated with teaching at a community college.
 

Specific Job Duties
  • Instruct students in the knowledge, skills and abilities pertaining to the assigned courses.
  • Consider the needs of the students, and assist them by seeking help from other college services.
  • Distribute to all students a course syllabus that covers the class requirements, grading procedure, attendance requirements, and student learning outcomes.
  • Inform students of educational and occupational opportunities.
  • Submit midterm and final grade reports, deficiency notices, attendance records and any other reports pertaining to the assigned courses.
  • Stay abreast on ongoing developments, trends and issues in computer information systems and computer science instruction at the community college.
  • Work with district high school representatives on course articulation and student recruitment.
  • Work with representatives from four-year institutions of higher learning to articulate our program.
  • Serve on the CIS advisory committee.
  • Maintain and develop CIS curriculum.
  • Actively participate in assessment activities.
  • Serve on College-wide committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Adult and Career Technical Education.
