Position overview Position title: Neuromodulation Research
Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $107,300 - $235,400. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description

The Department of Psychiatry within the School of Medicine at UC San Diego (http://psychiatry.ucsd.edu/) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. UC San Diego Psychiatry faculty provide exceptional clinical care, cutting-edge research, and educational excellence.

The Department of Psychiatry seeks candidates whose research, teaching, and/or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to excellence, diversity, and inclusion in higher education.

The selected candidates will be expected to establish a rigorous program of high-quality research with a focus on Interventional Psychiatry (e.g. neuromodulation, novel treatments).

The successful candidates will also be responsible for teaching, which may include lecturing and mentoring in our various educational programs (see https://psychiatry.ucsd.edu/education-training/index.html), and/or the clinical care of patients.

The appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience. Series will include 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding or 100% Ladder Rank.

As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities, and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have a PhD in health sciences or related fields and/or MD degree or equivalent.

Candidates with a MD or equivalent with clinical duties must be Board certified or Board eligible in their related field and must also be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Candidates must have 5+ years of a track record of clinical, translational and/or basic research. Candidates must also have an independent extramurally-funded research program (NIH R01 or similar) and 5+ years of research in high impact journals with 1+ grants and/or publications in neuromodulation research of psychiatric disorders.

Candidates must also have 5+ years of a track record of teaching and/or mentorship activities.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates who have authored a minimum of 5 research articles reporting clinical trials of neuromodulation treatments are preferred.
