POSITION TITLE: Information Technology Analyst II (Temporary)


POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a temporary Information Technology Analyst II for a 6-month assignment, fully onsite. The primary responsibility of this role is to dismantle IT equipment in offices and lab spaces, and then reconnect and test the equipment to ensure it is fully operational. Other responsibilities include configuring, installing, and maintaining operating systems and upgrades, memory, software, third-party applications, and peripheral equipment, diagnosing and troubleshooting software and hardware problems. Responsibilities may include assistance to staff and faculty with the setup and usage of workstations or systems, the configuration, installation, and maintenance of operating systems and upgrades, memory, software, third-party applications, and peripheral equipment. The ideal candidate is motivated, detail-oriented and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This position is temporary/40 hours per week.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Carefully break down IT equipment in office and lab spaces, ensuring all components are properly labeled and packaged for transport.
  • Reconnect and set up IT equipment in the new building, ensuring all systems are configured correctly and operational.
  • Conduct thorough testing of reconnected equipment to ensure functionality. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the setup process.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot software and hardware problems.
  • Analyze and evaluate laboratory computer configurations.
  • Administer system configuration files, file systems and disks.
  • Perform system backups and file restores.
  • Act as liaison to system vendors, end users and IT Services.
  • Track design and operational problems to be corrected by outside personnel.
  • Coordinate work with external maintenance agreements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve audio/video issues related to conference Zoom rooms.
  • Assist with the development of tools to create maintenance and tracking logs, including the writing of a web interface to system documentation.
  • Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or equivalent relevant experience or combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been attained.
  • Five years' experience in Information Systems.
  • Five years of relevant desktop and operating system (Windows/Macintosh) administration experience in a UNIX/Linux server environment or equivalent experience in a networked/educational environment;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of network configuration, file sharing facilities, user authentication, host and network security, viruses, spyware, and common desktop applications;
  • Advanced working knowledge of debugging skills in a heterogeneous, networked environment are helpful;
  • Must have strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent customer service orientation;
  • Ability to work effectively with customers at various technical and organizational levels from diverse cultural backgrounds, languages and nationalities;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • This is an on-campus position requiring 4 days per week working onsite from our La Jolla campus, with flexibility to work 1 day per week remotely from home.

COMPENSATION:

The expected hiring range for this position is $31.83 to $33.00/hourly, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
