Scope of Job
PowerFlex, an EDF Renewables company, is a leading national provider of intelligent onsite energy solutions that support carbon-free electrification and transportation. The Controller, Sr. Director of Accounting will be responsible for leading and improving the overall accounting function, ensuring timely and accurate business operations and financial reporting by driving consistent and efficient performance across the accounting team. Success in this role is dependent on leadership, organization/people development, process improvement, and ability to deal with a rapidly changing business environment.

Location
This role is open to be 100% remote or a hybrid role out of one of our offices (Mountain View, CA,San Diego, CA orNew York, NY.)

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and improve the monthly / quarterly / annual close processes for a fast-paced, rapidly growing company with multiple service and product lines
  • Oversee the preparation and communication of quarterly and annual financial statements; ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data, including both internal reporting for management and external reporting
  • Oversee general ledger functions, assure accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with professional accounting standards and best practices in accordance with GAAP
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies, leading practices and procedures to ensure US GAAP compliance
  • Manage the cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability and the maintenance of minimum required cash balances
  • Oversee weekly cash management, approve large payables, sign checks, authorize large wires and ACHs
  • Oversee the management, maintenance, and upgrades of the company's accounting and operating system software
  • Develop and implement internal controls and procedures
  • Act as a liaison to external auditing firms, while owning primary responsibility for the Company's views on technical accounting matters

Qualifications
Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, with an emphasis in accounting or finance
  • 10+ years' experience across a mix of public accounting, corporate accounting, operations, and controllership
  • CPA license required
  • Experience in the construction or renewables sector with exposure to construction job costing, hardware, equipment and software-as-a-service sales required

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and complete tasks efficiently
  • Ability to lead teams to simultaneously accomplish near-term activities and deadlines along with longer-dated reorganization and process improvement objectives
  • Competent knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams
  • NetSuite implementation and system administration a plus
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $130,000 - $216,500 annually. This position is eligible for PowerFlex's comprehensive Health and Welfare plans including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, 401(k) retirement plan and paid time off. The total compensation for this position may include an annual performance bonus (or other incentive compensation, as applicable). PowerFlex's compensation packages carefully consider a candidate's qualifications, experiences, and education in relation to the position.

Supervision of others
  • Provide direction to other individuals.
  • Supervises, hires, trains, provides work direction, and problem-solving assistance
  • Supervises staff, including hiring, scheduling, and assigning work, reviewing performance, and recommends salary increases, promotions, transfers, demotions, or terminations.
  • Manages others through subordinate supervisors.

Physical Requirements
Remaining in a seated position. Long hours on computer keyboard. Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.

Working Conditions
Primarily office working environment, but rare field visits will be needed which requires standing, walking, and able to document/measure existing conditions. Otherwise, normal office environment. Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment. Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
