Essential Job Duties
Teach VMC 967: Veterinary Dentistry, VMC 965: Advanced Principles of Surgery, VMC 961: Companion Animal Medicine and Surgery II, VMC 939: General Limited Small Animal Practice, and VMC 991-141: Wild Carnivore Selective. Supervise one veterinary dentistry resident. Provide clinical dental/oral surgery services and related teaching in the Health and Wellness Center, as well as provide didactic teaching and laboratory instruction in veterinary dentistry. Maintain a robust clinic service within the Veterinary Hospital, and participate in continuing education, public relations, and College of Veterinary Medicine committees as time permits. May be able to work from home several days per week with supervisor approval, but some in-person work on a regular weekly basis is required.
Minimum Education and Experience
Requires a DVM or equivalent degree in Veterinary Medicine or Veterinary Dentistry, board-eligibility by the American Veterinary Dental College, and an AVDC approved residency. Must have demonstrated experience with: performing dental and oral procedures, including tooth extraction, endodontic treatment and maxillofacial surgeries; interpreting and performing dental radiographs and cone- beam computed tomography; writing grant proposals and performing independent research in the field of small animal dentistry, including periodontics and endodontics, as evidenced by at least two scholarly publications in the last five years; providing didactic lectures and laboratory instruction to DVM students; and presenting on continuing education topics of veterinary dentistry and oral surgery to veterinarians.
