This position is responsible for engineering activities and technology support for Notre Dame media events; coordinating fulfillment of technical needs with broadcasters for live televised events from Notre Dame facilities; also supporting media production. The Video Engineer will provide pre-event consultations, event preparation/support and post-event reports/follow-up as required. Creation and updating of tech books which document events is an important function of this position.
Other duties include the maintenance of television production equipment, broadcast computer networks and subsystems; make design recommendations and implement new technologies; rapidly diagnose video system and IT problems; provide alternative solutions if needed to maintain deadlines; have full understanding of technical facility, broadcast video/audio and IT-type production equipment and systems; have technical experience and exposure to broadcast television production equipment including file-based production systems, switchers, graphics, replay, IP router, digital audio, cameras, transmission and encoding equipment; knowledge of design, documentation and integration of television and post-production systems.
This position requires working a rotating schedule which includes nights, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate must possess following skills and experiences:
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written
• Ability to operate and make decisions under the pressure of a live television environment
• Support and maintenance of television production equipment, computer networks and subsystems
• Ability to make design recommendations and provide implementation of new technologies
• Ability to rapidly diagnose video system and broadcast IT problems; provide alternative solutions if needed to maintain deadlines
• Ability and confidence to make decisions without supervisor input
• Must be operational in Google Suite

Preferred Qualifications
• The ideal candidate must have the ability to multi-task, be well-organized with attention to detail
• IT Networking experience a plus
• Knowledge of IP and fiber-based broadcast systems
• Have full understanding of a broadcast technical facility, broadcast video/audio equipment
set-up and strike with exposure to IT-type production equipment and systems
• Technical experience and exposure to broadcast television production equipment including file-based systems including playback/replay systems, production switchers, routers, cameras, transmission and encoding equipment
• Knowledge of design, documentation and integration of television and post-production systems
• Demonstrated desire to maintain knowledge of technology and industry trends
• IT Networking experience a plus
