Golden LEAF Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center

About the Department

The Golden LEAF Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center (BTEC) is a unique, cross-disciplinary instructional center that provides educational and training opportunities to develop skilled professionals for the biomanufacturing industry. BTEC’s audience includes NCSU students and professionals already involved in biomanufacturing or related industries. BTEC also provides bioprocess development and analytical services to a wide range of customers from academia and industry.

The primary function of the BTEC Bioprocess Engineering department is to maintain, operate, and, when necessary, upgrade Large, Intermediate, and Small Scale Bioprocessing, as well as Central Services and Process Utilities areas within the BTEC building in accordance with all applicable codes and regulations. Their mission includes ensuring that these operations comply with legal requirements while minimizing potential liabilities and any disruptions to BTEC’s overall operations. Moreover, the department plays a role in education by assisting with course development and instruction as needed.
