Position: Adjunct Faculty

Division: Santiago Canyon College Division of Continuing Education

Department: Career Education Healthcare

Start Date: As soon as possible

Site: Santiago Canyon College, College and Workforce Preparation Center

2024/2025 CEFA Salary Range

Instruction: $62.34 - $72.30/hour, depending upon education and experience.

Coordination/Curriculum Development: Less than a Master’s $50.69, Master’s or Greater $51.96

Salary

RSCCD has one of the highest faculty salary schedules among California’s 72 community college districts. New faculty will be placed on the salary schedule based upon verified teaching/work experience. Additional compensation is provided for work beyond the basic teaching contract, as defined in the July 1, 2022- June 30, 2025, agreement between The Rancho Santiago Community College District and The Continuing Education Faculty Association (CEFA).

The State of California established the Part-Time Faculty Health Insurance Program (Education Code sections 87860 through 87868), and RSCCD has established a reimbursement program, to provide an opportunity for individual part-time faculty members to receive a reimbursement towards the cost of securing a comprehensive medical plan. and include Part-Time Health Benefits Insurance Reimbursement (if eligible). Additional benefits provided are outlined in the July 1, 2022- June 30, 2025, agreement between The Rancho Santiago Community College District and The Continuing Education Faculty Association (CEFA).

Responsibilities

Teach all assigned classes, which may include evening or off-campus assignments unless excused according to Board Policy provisions. Maintain accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and academic progress. Assist in maintaining course outline for each assigned course. Be familiar with and observe the administrative regulations as they appear in the Faculty Handbook (flex calendar obligations, course overviews, etc). Participate in department committees and activities. Opportunity to teach classes across the curriculum. Additional coordinating duties may be assigned including meetings with local agencies and medical facilities in the development and maintenance of occupational programs and offerings in the area of Allied Health and participation in the creation, implementation and maintenance of occupational Allied Health courses and programs.

Minimum Qualifications (Applicants must meet one of the following):

1) Possess from an accredited institution: A bachelor's degree and two years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught, OR an associate degree and six years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught, OR

2) Possession of a full-time clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in the subject matter, OR

3) The equivalent (applicants who do not meet the above minimum qualifications must complete the Equivalencies Section in the application form and provide conclusive evidence of such).

Additional Requirements:

Adjunct Faculty must be a Registered Nurse (RN) who, at a minimum, meets the requirements as stated in Title 22 to be approved by the California Department of Public Health. Applicants must meet all of the following:

· Have and maintain an active RN license and BLS/CPR certification, AND

· Possess an approved and active Director of Staff Development (DSD) Number from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH)

OR MEET #1 - 3

1. Two (2) years of full-time nursing experience as a Registered Nurse

2. one (1) year of full-time, verifiable experience as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or RN, providing care and services to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care, or other long term care setting

3. Completion of a course in teaching adults (need to provide certificate of completion) OR one (1) year of verifiable experience in teaching adults. OR one (1) year of verifiable experience supervising nurse aides.

Desirable Qualifications

*Experience in teaching students from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and widely varying levels of proficiency preferred.

* A working knowledge of and experience with student learning outcomes and assessment
