Job Summary and Responsibilities/Duties

Plans, develops, and implements recruitment strategies and best practices for the college recruitment funnel work and messaging for MHCC. Participates in and organizes the admissions team in tabling, registration events, and outreach events Acts as the primary source of information for prospective students and actively recruits students through participation of various events. Acts as the primary liaison to high schools and community groups to schedule presentations and campus tours; coordinates outreach and recruitment activities and events with other departments, programs, and colleges, and arranges faculty and staff attendance at college fairs and community events. Assists students in the development of meaningful education plans that are compatible with career and life goals and curriculum standards. Oversees and facilitates the work of the Student Outreach and Recruitment Team. Oversees the management and data of the college’s customer relationship management system (CRM).

Essential Duties:


  • Creates, develops, and implements recruitment-based strategies that align with the college’s strategic enrollment plan and that promote equity and inclusion.
  • Manages and collects recruitment funnel data. Generates and processes reports, and develops and maintains tracking systems to review prospect information and provide outreach. Interprets data and reports to determine effectiveness of outreach efforts and programs. Maintains departmental data and related documents.
  • Monitors and tracks recruitment costs to meet budget goals.
  • Facilitates new student orientations and conducts workshops in prospective student interest topics.
  • Collaborates with the college marketing team to develop and produce appropriate recruitment documents for staff, prospective students and the community.
  • Select, trains, and oversees Student Outreach and Recruitment (SOAR) team. Ensures the student recruiters and SOAR team leaders capture lead information in the CRM and recruitment activity log.
  • Provides information and guidance on institutional policies, procedures, and program requirements to assist students in making sound educational and career decisions.
  • Assists student leads with the development of decision-making skills, awareness of educational resources and reinforcement of self-direction in educational planning.
  • Serves as primary lead in managing the College’s presence at college fairs and community outreach events, in addition to serving as a lead representative at such events, alongside the student recruiter and SOAR leaders.
  • Oversees the pre-event coordination and day-of delivery of on-campus visitations for both individual and large-sized groups with assistance from Student Recruiter and SOAR leaders.
  • Coordinates the planning and production of annual events at the College, including College Night in Oregon, Preview Days and High School Counselors Appreciation Luncheon.
  • Assists students with onboarding steps including registration, financial aid, and college services and academic programming.
  • Provides pre-advising and College Placement Test (CPT) score interpretations for onsite CPT testing at district high schools, as needed.
  • Serves as an active member on various committees and workgroups, including the New Student Welcome Day Planning Committee and High School Relations Committee.
  • Collaborates with leadership across campus, as needed, to devise and implement college-wide recruitment campaigns

Additional Duties:
  • Facilitates referrals to staff and resources when appropriate.
  • Assists with commencement.
  • Participates in state, regional, and national conferences and meetings to maintain knowledge of current industry best practices and grant guidelines.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum and Desired Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, student services, or related field

Experience/Training:


  • Minimum (3) years of experience in student orientation, admissions, or related experience.
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Experience in event management and program planning
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Applications.
  • Current driver’s license, insurance and access to reliable automobile during work hours for transportation to off-campus sites

At the College’s discretion, experience may be substituted, year-for-year, for education

Desired Qualifications:
  • Bilingual skills with fluency in English and Spanish, or other language that meets community needs
  • Familiarity with student leadership development theory
  • Experience working with diverse college students
  • Experience managing a customer relations management system (CRM)

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of community college systems and philosophy
  • Knowledge about career trends, community employment needs, college policies and procedures, degree options and requirements, admission processes, and referral sources
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply the College’s interpretation of FERPA.
  • Knowledge of academic program offerings at the college, in addition to policies and procedures relating to admissions, registration, testing and placement
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well with individuals with diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required

 

Working Conditions and Important Information

 

Working Conditions:
Occasional local travel and evening and weekend hours expected. Work is typically performed in a normal office environment working with a variety of people. Booth set-up and take-down is required for college fairs and community outreach events. Work environment can be noisy and crowded with students and staff. Occasional strain to the eyes while working with a computer terminal, in addition to infrequent lifting and carrying of items up to 10 lbs.

Salary:
Initial salary placement will be based on years of relevant full-time equivalent experience at the sole discretion of the College, per the guidelines in the applicable Handbook or Collective Bargaining Agreement. Please include all relevant full and part-time experience in your application that you want the College to review towards potential placement. Hired employees will not have an opportunity to update past experience or appeal initial placement after the time of hire.
