Job Description
Position Purpose:
This position provides operational management of the Continuing Education and Customized Training (CECT), both on and off campus, for Century College. This position is responsible for four general areas: business development and planning, staff supervision, department operations, contract management, and fiscal services. This position supervises the CECT employees including operational staff and sales team. This position manages the development of all noncredit courses, programs, and certificates offered for general and specialized audiences in cooperation with Century College’s academic departments, outside organizations, and agencies, as well as through ongoing analysis of trends in training and lifelong learning. The position, which reports to an Academic Dean, involves significant discretion over and substantial involvement in developing and implementing the department’s role relative to the college’s strategic action plan.
 
Position Responsibilities:
  • Lead the creation and implementation of a long-term department plan that realizes sales and revenue goals through working with internal and external stakeholders to create learning opportunities that meet occupational and lifelong learning needs.
  • Supervise operations staff and sales team.
  • Oversee and provide strategic direction to department operations.
  • Direct and assess department implementation of financial goals, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote positive and effective communications necessary to successful operation.
  • Provide leadership in college and program planning efforts.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three years professional experience in three (3) of the following functional areas: Business Development and Planning, Staff Supervision, Department Operations, Contract Management, Fiscal Services.
  • Proven professional, service-oriented approach and the interpersonal skills required to determine continuing education and workforce development needs within Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area.
  • Demonstrated work experience building and sustaining public/private partnerships and successful collaboration with various sectors and across departments or organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to act quickly to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities simultaneously and accomplish work goals through other people.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and high-level proficiency with typical office technology.
  • Demonstrates an effort to improve cultural competence and actively take steps to improve cultural competence and actively take steps to include diversity training in professional development.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Established network of professional instructors/trainers and business or community partners for training and continuing education projects in the metropolitan area.
  • Five to 10+ years of management experience including development of a comprehensive business/marketing plan and overseeing departmental budget of a minimum of $1 million annually or the equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • Knowledge of business practices, higher education, workforce development systems and adult education and training programs.
  • Knowledge of the curriculum development and redesign process including course competencies and instructional strategies to ensure quality learner outcomes.
  • Experience making presentations to small and large groups.
  • Experience implementing an aggressive sales and marketing plan.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and evidence of cultural competence.
  • Ability to secure and leverage resources to support teaching and learning through fundraising or grant writing.
  • A broad knowledge of teaching and learning.
