The Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Plymouth State University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track teaching faculty position to begin in the Fall of 2021. The area of specialization is open; however, preference will be given to candidates with interest and/or expertise in the area of white collar crime and its related components as well as the ability to teach courses like Introduction to Criminal Justice, Criminal Law, Criminal Investigation, Criminal Procedure, and other related courses in the program(s). Teaching faculty carry a teaching load of 30-32 credits per year as well as service expectations (but are not required to participate in research), and are eligible for promotion to a senior teaching faculty rank. Teaching Faculty positions are full time, with benefits and funded on a year-to-year basis. The candidate will be expected to advise undergraduate students and provide service to the university. Depending upon the experience of said applicants there is the possibility of coming in at the Senior Teaching Faculty Rank.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a related discipline and three years of experience working in a criminal justice-related field
  • Must be innovative, student-driven, and have strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of learners and collaborate effectively with students and colleagues
  • Demonstrated potential for excellent teaching
  • Skills to serve as an academic adviser and mentor for undergraduate students
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a Juris Doctor
  • Interest or experience in the area of white collar crime and its many components
  • The ability to also teach Introduction to Criminal Justice, Criminal Law, Criminal Investigation, Criminal Procedure, and other related classes offered in our two degree programs will be necessary
  • Demonstrated excellent teaching skills
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues across disciplines
