Assistant Director of Admissions for Special Cohorts

Job Description

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS FOR SPECIAL COHORTS, Admissions, to independently plan, oversee, and manage select targeted recruitment programs for academically, technically, and entrepreneurially talented students. Will develop relationships with domestic and international organizations and their principals and develop admissions systems to identify and evaluate exceptionally compelling talent; work with MIT faculty, departments, and student groups to develop programs to optimize recruitment and selection efforts that are consistent with MIT’s mission to maintain a vibrant campus community; read and evaluate first-year applications and serve on the admissions selection committee; collaborate with the associate director for selection on coordinating the reading and selection process for international applicants and serve as liaison for international students with other MIT offices; schedule, coordinate, and present regional information sessions throughout the country; and perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree; at least three related years’ experience, including at least two years in selective college admissions; excellent project management, analytical, problem-solving, and written and oral communication skills; strong public speaking skills; experience collaborating with a wide variety of people and ability to use discretion and tact in all of these interactions; initiative; demonstrated ability to transform ideas into practical solutions; experience developing and managing programs; keen attention to detail; ability to work independently with minimal supervision over sustained periods; good judgment and discretion; and a driver's license.  PREFERRED:  supervisory experience and experience with SLATE (Technolutions).  Job #24147-7

Salary range:  $64,000 - 78,000

A hybrid schedule is possible for this position with a minimum of two days per week on-site in Cambridge, MA.

Regular evening and weekend work will be required during the academic year as will some travel by air annually.
