This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at UCSD Campus in La Jolla, CA and remote.

DESCRIPTION

The mission of the Student Health & Well-Being (SHW) cluster is to promote a culture of health and well-being for the student community, deliver equitable high quality innovative services, incorporate inclusive approaches, and celebrate diversity, with the goal of adoption and maintenance of healthy behaviors contributing to the academic success and personal development of all students.

The UC San Diego SHW cluster, which reports through UC San Diego Health System, plays a leadership role in creating a strong and active wellness culture that enables all students to flourish in body, mind and spirit. This includes promotion and the transformation of existing departments, under the oversight of the Executive Director, into a cohesive, trans-disciplinary source of integrated wellness services. The SHW cluster includes the departments of Student Health Services (SHS); Health Promotion Services (HPS); Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS); Assessment and Analytics (SHAA), Strategic Planning, Innovation and Research (SPIR); and SHW Administration (ADM).

The SHW cluster provides health promotion, counseling and psychological services and primary medical care, including urgent care and support services, to over 43,000 undergraduate, graduate and professional students. Staff consists of physicians, psychiatrists, psychologist, pharmacists, optometrists, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, social workers, radiology technologists, clinical laboratory scientists, medical lab assistants, medical assistants, health educators, administrative and other healthcare professionals. SHW Administration provides full business, financial and infrastructure services, including support for the Executive Director's Office, strategic planning, innovation, research; assessments and analytics; information technology; budget management, resource planning and administration; contracts management; human resources, credentialing/privileging; medical records, insurance management, patient billing and collections; marketing; and facilities and space.

Reporting to the Director of Health Promotion Services, this position provides marketing and communication services to the Student Health and Well-Being Cluster. The incumbent works on a broad range of projects involving the development and execution of marketing strategies, cluster publications, website maintenance, printing, marketing campaigns, social media, branding, and public and campus messaging, and works with various communications teams on campus.

Design experience in Adobe Suites is required (e.g., InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) to design graphics for various publications. The position assists with the maintenance of content across multiple websites and social media platforms; develops positive working relationships with external and internal stakeholders, student body, university staff and faculty while working collaboratively with the Student Health and Well-Being Cluster team to achieve marketing, communications and engagement goals for the department. The incumbent will have experience coordinating and scheduling social media posts, content creation, and managing comments and replies. Incumbent must have experience creating engaging stories, posts and videos on Instagram. Incumbent must have experience working with graphic design, video editing, and closed captioning applications. Experience working with vendors to design and produce promotional items like brochures, t-shirts, pens, tote bags, etc, is highly preferred.

The candidate uses skills as an experienced marketing and communications professional with a full understanding of industry practices and campus policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

Uses marketing concepts in performing non-complex responsibilities such as planning, developing and implementing basic marketing plans, drafting promotional or marketing materials, working on marketing events, conducting basic market research, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Six years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus two years of related experience/training.

  • Solid knowledge of marketing principles, concepts, strategies and best practices. Thorough knowledge of marketing mediums, communication principles, media and marketing techniques.

  • Solid knowledge of institutional products and services.

  • Knowledge of the campus and / or medical center including its achievements, mission, vision, goals, objectives and infrastructure.

  • Knowledge of customer service standards / procedures. Strong skills in event and media activities management.

  • Organizational skills and skills in file creation, maintenance and management. Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to establish goals, determine workload priorities and manage projects with competing deadlines.

  • Written and interpersonal communication skills. * Demonstrated experience developing written content for the web; knowledgeable regarding best web content practices, web page design and construction.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of proper English grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence construction and formatting styles. Experience in proofreading and editing.

  • Demonstrated research and interviewing skills to gather data using traditional and electronic methods. Ability to read and analyze technical or complex content and write communications on those subjects for a general audience.

  • Experience with desktop design and publishing applications such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Canva.

  • Video filming and editing experience with programs such as Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate office computer and various equipment proficiently, including telephone, printer, copier, scanner and FAX machines. Thorough knowledge of business software; specialized applications and systems used in behavioral health centers / clinics, as applicable to position. Demonstrated experience and competency with standard business equipment, computer technologies and a variety of software including system and networking software, Microsoft Office suite, email and a variety of web-based programs and browsers, with the willingness and ability to update and increase skills as needed to meet the goals of SHW.

  • Ability to use discretion, maintain utmost confidentiality and comply with all requirements in use of computer systems and access to any and all patient, student, employee and University data, in electronic and hard copy formats, in compliance with University, state and federal guidelines, including, but not limited to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $56,700 - $97,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $27.16 - $46.70

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
