POSITION TITLE: Business Instructor

DEPARTMENT: Career and Professional Education

REPORTS TO: Department Chair, Dean of Academics

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

REVISED: May 15th, 2024

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Teach first- and second-year business courses both online and face-to-face and oversee business student interns. Possible courses include: Introduction to Business, Human Resource Management, Principles of Marketing, Management/Leadership, Business Law, Business Communications, Business Entrepreneurship.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1) Ability to incorporate culturally responsive pedagogy and make clear and consistent connections to LLTC’s Mission.

2) Instructors are expected to teach the contracted number of credits per semester.

3) Teach Business classes and run the Business program.

4) Faculty are required to attend:

a. Faculty orientation at the beginning of the fall semester.

b. Committee meetings assigned throughout the school year.

c. Tribal College graduation ceremony at the end of the school year, and

d. All classes each semester; arrange for a substitute instructor in the event of your absence (all absences must be approved by the Department Chair).

5) Attend other meetings as requested by your Department Chair and Dean of Academics.

6) Faculty are required to submit:

a. Course syllabi and office hours to the Dean of Academics by required dates.

b. Final semester grades by the required semester-end dates.

c. Student attendance reports in the required format at the required time.

d. Any other information required by the class standards.

7) Faculty must maintain office hours for students for tutorial assistance, academic advising, or assisting with student organizations such as Student Senate. These hours must be in addition to classroom hours. Faculty are required to post office hours and class schedules prior to the beginning of each semester.

8) Faculty are required to be available for students and special duties as may be assigned during final exam weeks or registration periods.

9) Faculty must meet with each student enrolled in your classes through a formal appointment process once each semester.

10) Faculty must abide by the Faculty Handbook.

11) Faculty must participate in program review or grant reporting, assessment and/or evaluation as required.

12) Participate in department and college curriculum development.

13) Deliver instruction using a variety of methods of course instruction, including traditional, online, and hybrid courses.

14) Conduct classroom research and other assessment/evaluation activities.

15) Mentor and advise students.

EXPERIENCE/ REQUIREMENTS:

1. Teaching experience, preferably at an adult and post-secondary level.

2. Teaching experience with diverse student populations.

3. Teaching with online learning tools.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

1. Ability to implement contemporary pedagogical philosophies, methods, and techniques, including multi-media, to develop and deliver instruction in classroom and lab settings.

2. Able to develop instructional activities, course syllabi, course outlines, and other necessary teaching materials.

3. Ability to effectively use appropriate technology and equipment.

4. Knowledge of online learning.

5. Ability to work collegially with all individuals in the Tribal College setting.

6. Ability to work effectively as a team member of LLTC.

7. Ability to provide outstanding quality customer service and support to the LLTC and all stakeholders.

EDUCATION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

A Master’s degree in Business or related field. A minimum of a Master’s degree with 18 graduate credit hours in Business will also be considered.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Valid Minnesota driver's license and current auto insurance.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
