The Library Specialist oversees the day-to-day operations of the campus library. This key position leads the public service team, and with that team provides circulation services, answers technology questions, manages the information desk and works extensively one-on-one with students and faculty both in person and online. The Library Specialist coordinates the circulation of library materials and maintains the library’s collections. The associate recruits, trains and manages the work of the student assistants, and participates in the training of other team members. The Library Specialist collects data about library usage, updates documentation and contributes suggestions for ensuring library services contribute to student success. The Specialist works with the library director and librarians to plan, implement and market library programs, engagement activities, and instructional workshops. The Specialist supports general college activities, as requested. Some evenings or weekends may be required.
 
 
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience working with the general public in a library, archive or museum. Strong commitment to excellent customer service to a diverse college population. Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively, efficiently and independently in a highly technological and team-oriented environment, with minimal supervision. Excellent Microsoft Office skills. Ability to welcome change. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check.
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional Considerations:
Community college experience, which may be experience as a community college student. Experience in academic libraries and with automated library systems such as Alma, OCLC, LibGuides and remote work applications.
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
