DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Health, a Joint Commission Accredited institution with Disease-Specific Certification in CKD, VAD, and Comprehensive Stroke, is seeking an Ambulatory Regulatory Compliance Specialist to join our dynamic team. The Ambulatory Regulatory Compliance Specialist has a pivotal role within the organization and is responsible for ensuring adherence to regulatory standards across diverse areas. Leveraging extensive knowledge of healthcare regulations, this role leads or participates in high-impact projects with significant scope and complexity. Key responsibilities include conducting assessments to identify areas of noncompliance, consulting with legal and operational teams, and ensuring the preparation of compliant reports.

The Ambulatory Regulatory Compliance Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring ongoing compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and California Department of Public Health Standards (CDPH). This position will support and coordinate all survey activities across UC San Diego Health's multiple sites. This position supports regulatory compliance for ambulatory clinics through routine monitoring and support during licensing and regulatory surveys.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Nine (9) years of related experience in hospital or ambulatory nursing, a clinical quality department, TJC, or CDPH OR a Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or related field, plus five (5) years of related experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of the methods, tools, and practices involved with regulatory compliance. Strong knowledge and understanding of compliance and regulatory standards across the healthcare industry or in-depth knowledge within a specialty area.

  • Advanced organizational and project management skills, with the ability to lead a team, prioritize tasks, and see projects through from inception to completion on schedule.

  • Advanced interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively with managers and staff at all levels and across the organization, as well as with representatives of external regulatory agencies. Skills in coaching and mentoring staff.

  • Advanced skills in written and verbal communications, with the ability to convey highly complex technical information, education, and instructions clearly and concisely. Produce high-quality reports, documentation, presentations, and educational materials.

  • In-depth ability to collaborate effectively with senior staff and management across departments, providing advice and counsel on complex regulatory issues of functionality, efficiency, and program development.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in a relevant area.

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of California.

  • Experience within an ambulatory setting.

  • Regulatory experience in unlicensed California clinics.

  • Experience with LEAN Principles/Process Improvement.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $112,100 - $216,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $53.69 - $103.69

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
